
The goal of this course is to encourage you to develop your creative writing skills.
The requirements for ASSESSMENT are as follows:
1. CREATE A CREATIVE WRITING BLOG for this class.
This will be a PORTFOLIO of WORKS in PROGRESS.
2. Complete CLASS EXERCISES
3. Submit a hard copy PORTFOLIO of FINISHED WORKS
4. Show evidence of having WORKSHOPPED a story or poem

This involves writing a first draft, having other people read your draft and suggest ways of improving your original, and then redrafting your piece.
5. Participate in the “NOVEL in a WEEK” project
6. Completing a Major Writing Project (to be negotiated with the teacher). You will have a lot of freedom in choosing the kind of creative writing project you undertake. Here are ideas to get you started in your thinking. You could:
- Write a CHOOSE YOUR ENDING story
- Write a FAMILY HISTORY
- Write an ANTHOLOGY of POEMS
- Create a PERSONAL BLOG
- Create a BOOK composed of stories & poems and photographs
- Create a PHOTO ESSAY
- Create an CLASS ANTHOLOGY of stories and poems around a THEME of your own choosing
- Write and perform or record a number of song
- Create a collection of OULIPO writings
- Create a CHILDREN’S STORY complete with illustrations / photographs
- Write a NOVEL is whatever GENRE you choose
- Create a series of SHORT STORIES
- Write a BIOGRAPHY e.g. of your grandfather or grandmother; of a neighbour or friend
- Write your AUTOBIOGRAPHY
